David Collins
... graduated from high school in Malaysia and later from Canadian Bible College (BRE) and Seminary (MRE) in Saskatchewan. Together, David and Nancy now share their international perspective with their four children.
The early years of ministry were spent pastoring a Baptist church in Saskatachewan. He later joined the staff at Caronport High School and Briercrest Bible College where he worked as a counselor and Associate Dean of Students. During this time, he completed his Master of Religious Education degree at Canadian Theological Seminary.
Returning to Asia in 1987, David and Nancy worked with Vietnamese refugees in both Thailand and the Philippines.
Since 1994, David Collins has been working with the poor and neglected through Canadian Food for the Hungry International (CFHI), a Christian Relief and Development organization which he founded. He has served as President and CEO for 11 years, transitioning within the organization to coordinate Disciple Nations Alliance (DNA). This school of thought focuses on the development of Christian leaders from the business, church and para-church sectors through an extensive study program in compassion theology and wholistic vocation.
David has over 20 years experience in international relief and development. He has been involved in extensive travel performing needs assessments and project evaluations in many countries including Rwanda, Uganda, Ethiopia, Kenya, Congo, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Philippines, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Dominican Republic, Guatemala and Peru.
In addition, David is the founding President and CEO of the Global Hunger Foundation and has pastored three congregations during twenty six years of ministry. His experience and knowledge have made him a popular conference speaker, seminar trainer and instructor.
In September 2005, David accepted the Co-chair of the Micah Challenge movement in Canada. (Part of the mandate of MC is to hold the Canadian Government accountable in fulfilling its commitment to follow through on the Millennium Development goals.) He volunteered in that capacity for 2 years.
David currently lives in Abbotsford with his wife Nancy and the 2 youngest of their 4 children. He has committed his life to assisting the people of Christ to bridge the gap between evangelism and mercy wherever they live and breathe and have their being. He is currently living that out through the work of Paradigm Ministries, an organization he founded in Nov. 2007 for that purpose. He continues to his pastoral work: preaching, counselling, mentoring and discipling as well as assisting institutions through consulting services.
