Cliff Weibe

Cliff Wiebe is the Founder and President of Global Team Design. He started Global Team Design to mobilize Canadians to volunteer, serve and work internationally.

Cliff started traveling the world to volunteer in different capacities when he was in his teens and became hooked on it.

An undergraduate education in Sociology and Christian Ministries contributed to an ability and desire to understand people both at home and abroad, and motivated him to reach out to meet the needs of others whenever possible.

Cliff and his wife Heather traveled to Indonesia to teach at an English immersion school for national Indonesians. For three years they taught, lived and explored the culture of Southeast Asia. This experience taught them how to assist people through their first stages of cross-cultural exposure.

After Indonesia, Cliff went on to get a masters degree in Administrative Leadership. The focus of his graduate studies was non-profit and international development. This training prepared him for his next phase of life as the Teams Program Manager at Samaritan’s Purse Canada.

In five years with Samaritan’s Purse he developed an International Teams Program and deployed over 100 teams. As the program grew he implemented a leadership program to create capacity. He also created effective systems and fostered a network of volunteers to not only send teams out, but to do it with excellence. Believing in leadership, training, excellence and having the right people in the right place has been paramount to successfully dispatching thousands of international volunteers.

As a member of Registered Engineers for Disaster Relief (RedR) Cliff has trained in topics such as Refugees, Agencies and Relief Workers and Personal Security in Emergencies. He is equipped to train others and offer consulting services through Global Team Design. He enjoys working with people who don't just want to travel, but want to learn and offer meaningful international service.
